This weekend, I was on due to be on set for a cool slasher/horror short film in Durham, NC. Yet, the annual Afropunk Fest, which travels to several cities, was set to kick off this weekend as well. Attending would stretch me thin, but I had never been and I hate missing a good time with colored folks! LOL!!
Tickets were a bit pricey, but there were flexible options and performances nonstop from the afternoon until almost midnight both days. I saw Atlanta’s most creative souls all in one area, singing, laughing, drinking, smoking and living harmoniously. This was a natural hair lover’s dream come true! Everything from 70s inspired gear to funky hairstyles made this a memorable event.
I actually LOST the memory card containing my Afrofunk photos! The terrible feeling of knowing that I was going to have to tell dozens of people that I could not deliver their photos was consuming me. I retraced my steps and found the memory card at a gas station in Plattsburg, NC!! I’m so glad they picked it up for me!
